Full course description
Welcome! This course will help you design, launch, and sustain rigorous, student-centered STEM projects that connect classroom learning to real-world problems. Across ten focused modules, you’ll move from clarifying what PBL is (and isn’t) to building a ready-to-teach STEM PBL unit—complete with a compelling driving question, an engaging entry event, authentic partnerships, formative checkpoints, and a public showcase.
Whether you teach robotics, environmental science, math, coding, or cross-disciplinary STEM, you’ll find practical strategies, examples, and templates you can use right away. Expect an active experience: brief readings and videos, thought-provoking discussions, and bite-sized design tasks that build toward a polished capstone. By the end, you’ll have a complete PBL unit plan you’re confident bringing to students.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be eligible for 2 credits through VCSU. All information for registering for credit will be found in the last module of the course.
